Your class code is generated automatically. Students use this code to log in and access assignments. You can find it on the class page.

Managing Students

Adding Students to a Class

There are two ways to add students to your class:

Manual Entry

Add students one by one by entering their names. Perfect for small classes or adding individual students.

  4. 4

    Assign

Click 'Assign' and students will see it in their assignment queue.

What Students Experience

  1. Log in: Students use their class code to access their assignments
  2. Read the passage: The decodable text appears on screen with optional audio support
  3. Complete tasks: Students answer comprehension questions and complete phonics exercises
  4. Submit: Work is automatically submitted for teacher review

Best Practice: Align decodables with your current unit in the core curriculum. For example, if you're teaching Unit 2 (CVC Patterns), assign CVC decodables for practice.

Using Diagnostic Assessments

Diagnostic assessments help you determine exactly where each student should begin in the curriculum, eliminating guesswork and ensuring students start at the right level.

When to Use Diagnostics

New Students

Place students accurately when they join your class mid-year

Beginning of Year

Assess all students to form instructional groups and plan your curriculum

Progress Checks

Determine when students are ready to move to the next unit

How Diagnostics Work

  1. 1

    Assign the Diagnostic

Select which students should take the assessment. You can assign to individuals, groups, or your entire class.

  2. 2

    Students Complete Tasks

The assessment adapts based on student responses, testing letter recognition, sound knowledge, blending ability, and more.

  3. 3

    Review Results

Get a detailed report showing each student's skill level across all seven units.

  4. 4

    Receive Recommendations

The system suggests which unit to start with for each student based on their results.

Diagnostic results are saved to each student's profile, making it easy to track growth over time and make data-driven instructional decisions.
